The proceedings of the conference dedicated to Antonello da Messina and held in Florence in 2012 are now printed in the tenth volume of the series Italia e Paesi Bassi which Centro Di is proud to publish for the Dutch University Institute for Art History.
The prominent participation in the conference of expert restorers brought increased clarity to Antonello's use of materials, particularly to the oil medium. Thanks to the ever-increasing sophistication of the technical research tools and methods, it is now possible to redefine the definitions of his body of works and appreciate more deeply Antonello's technical virtuosity.
At the same time this book contains new considerations about Antonello's iconoglraphy and his contribution to the portrait genre.
