Concerning a New Small Amphora from the Workshop of the Micali Painter from the Monte Abatone Necropolis in Cerveteri

Maria Serena Napolitano
The subject of this paper is an Etruscan black f igure small neck-amphora found during the excavation campaign conducted at the Monte Abatone necropolis in Cerveteri between August and September 2022 by the Università degli Studi della Campania 'L. Vanvitelli', together with the universities of Tuscia, Urbino, and Bonn, in collaboration with the Soprintendenza Archeologia, Belle Arti e Paesaggio per la provincia di Viterbo e per l'Etruria Meridionale. In particular, the Università degli Studi della Campania focused part of their research on the western section of the
ditch of the Tumulo Campana, where the vase in question was found. In all probability this vessel is attributable, as will be argued, to the workshop of the Micali Painter. An attempt will also be made to place the small neck-amphora within the context of Cerveteri, a site where the presence of the artist is already well attested.
